What Is It? 

The Run Solo Project is a 4-week virtual running series consisting of several challenge options.

At the end of each week, runners can see how they stacked up against other runners across the nation, but most importantly, each team can see how they did against other school teams. Which school team will become victorious and win the ultimate prize, plus all of the glory and bragging rights of course? 

Participants will be charged $50 ($20 of this will go back to your club - see “Let’s Get Down to Business” for more details) for this 4-week series, which will include: 

  • Run Solo Shirt
  • SUPER Cool Unique Custom Handmade Medal (Did we mention that it was super cool and unique??) 
  • Online “Results” Each Week

Why Should My Running Club Get Involved? 

We know some running clubs’ fundraising efforts were forced to be cancelled, so we wanted to create something to engage the running community, help school teams, and generate some much needed funds to stay afloat until normalcy returns. Alongside our event management company, we also own two specialty running stores in Southern California that were forced to close their doors, and had the pleasure of starting a local running club here in Ventura, CA. With the event industry on pause for an indeterminable amount of time, we have been scrambling to adapt and survive because events made up about 80% of our revenue. Whether it’s your running club or even members of your running club who are personally experiencing first-hand how difficult a time like this can be, we are all in this together! We all also know how running can always make things better. After the idea of the Run Solo Project was created, we thought we should unite runners and support the running community across the nation. 

In addition to this being a fundraising opportunity, Run Solo will offer your running club the ability to continue your connection with your members and supporters in perhaps a different outlet than normal. This will be a fun, interactive challenge to keep your members and the community engaged while joining in for some healthy competition. It’s also just another excuse to run! 

Who Can Be On My Team? 

Members of your running club, friends of members, parents of members, siblings of members, children of members, and community members who want to support your club are all welcome to join your team. 

Let’s Get Down to Business 

Remember how we said participants were going to be charged $50? Well for each paying participant that you get to represent your running club*, $20 of that fee will go directly to your club. 

In the early phases of brainstorming ideas, we felt we needed to bring the running community together virtually while offering a fundraising opportunity to running clubs. If a club were to push this idea to their members and fellow supporters and get 100 people to sign up for the challenge, that club would get $2,000! We know many fundraising opportunities were lost because of COVID-19 and we believe this could be a fun way to bring in some much needed funds. Just think of all of the ways you could use this money! You can use the funds to promote running in your community, grow your membership, throw a party for your members when COVID-19 is over, or whatever you need/want to do. 

The checks will get issued to your club halfway through the series, so you will receive your portion quickly. 

* During the registration process, runners must select a running club they would like to represent. This will help us determine how many people are on your team and it will also help us aggregate your team’s results.
